I've found an interesting link on a gaming website that helps friends with PS3's share their games, saving on cost and meaning you can both play the same games. Here it is:

There are some restrictions, but most downloadable games look as though they can be shared, particularly add-ons.
I've tried this before and it does indeed work. Sony has apparently said that sharing like this is fine with them too, which is very cool.
